Temporal Seeds

Carved wood and lost-wax bronze

"I have always collected seeds. I have always been attracted to them as sources of life. I collect them wherever I go, in gardens, forests, beaches, many from the Yucatan Peninsula, hence the name Kan, which in Mayan means seed. I always examine their unique structure by drawing them over and over again. Its shape gives me a sense of freedom because it gives me a geometry to play with, which I reinterpret in my personal way and so I start carving the wood. Therefore, although inspired by reality, my seeds are in fact imaginary."
